HISTORICAL INTERESTS Only 16km away, is Kangaroo Valley Museum, Pioneer Village and Historical Bridge. The Surveyor General Inn, Courthouse Museum and Gaol are to be seen at Berrima only 30km away. In Bowral all the cricketing fans will find something of interest in the Bradman Museum. The Museum is located next to the Bradman Oval, and near the former home of the great cricketer Don Bradman. NATURAL INTERESTS Lush farming areas - mainly potatoes, cattle and dairy surround the Conference Centre. The rolling green hills around Robertson were the home to the movie "Babe" Well-known local beauty spots are: Fitzroy Falls, Belmore Falls, Carrington Falls, Mannings Lookout and Hindmarsh Lookout overlooking the Kangaroo Valley. The latest tourist attraction which is proving a great success is the Illawarra Fly tree top walk. Visitors from around Australia and even the world are experiencing the rainforest and escarpment just outside of Robertson. The tree top walk provides a fantastic view of the south coast between Wollongong and Kiama. Approximately 65 kms west of Mittagong is Wombeyan Caves. These are an extensive series of beautiful limestone caves. Five caves are easily accessible on graded paths. Guided tours are available, or a self-guided tour can be taken through one of the caves by following the paths. Just a short distance from the town centre of Robertson is Robertson Nature Reserve. The reserve holds one of the natural treasures of the Southern Highlands, a remnant of the famous 'Yarrawa Brush'. Also nearby (about 30 minutes away) is Minnamurra Rainforest and Falls. This area has a boardwalk through the rainforest and much native flora and fauna can be seen on this walk. Kiama is also 45 minutes away. It is a pretty beachside town with the much loved tourist attraction of the Blowhole. OTHER PLACES OF INTEREST For the young at heart we are also 45 minutes from Jamberoo Recreation Park. This is a theme park with waterslides, bob sleds, racing cars, chair lift rides and much more. We are at the centre of the Shoalhaven Water Supply Scheme with two reservoirs, a lake, canal, power station and pumping station all within 20 minutes. Inspections can be arranged for school groups. In Pearsons Lane you can visit the "Small Cow Farm" Cheese Factory and watch cheese being made. This local family operated business is winning awards and critical acclaim for its growing range of cheeses. Bookings are essential. |
